CANVA FOR GOOD: How a group of student-teachers imparted 21st Century Skills to youth

Uncategorized
Education and skill development has a very large influence in breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty. However, there is an absence of market-oriented curricula in educational institutes and lack of quality vocational training which makes it difficult for students to be equipped with relevant skills demanded by the market. According to a report by UNICEF, more than 50% of young people in India will not have the requisite skills for employment by 2030. Hence, youth has to be equipped with 21st century skills to gain employment in the future. Canva for GOOD is an attempt by a team of TribesforGOOD students composed of Ruchita Nair, Harivansh Rathi, Krishang Goel, Krish Patwari and Gatik Yadav. Uncategorized
Growing up in metropolitan or capital cities, most of us don't realise that rural areas actually spread over a much larger area of land. When my daughter was 2 years old, I started to introduce her to “Good Manners” like washing hands, brushing teeth twice a day etc. I used to repeat my stories and examples so that she can correlate and learn. But most of the times, I was in vain. One day, I showed her an animated story of how a boy had to pay a visit to dentist for not brushing his teeth during night. That did the trick!! Hurray!! I started showing her more such stories and I was surprised to see the impact on her. Now in Sr.KG, she has been introduced to Solar System at school. When I tell her that we all people are lying on the earth and the earth is hanging in the space, she…

As we become more technologically advanced, kids have started using computers and mobile phones since they start speaking. This helps them be smarter, worldlier wise and also be in touch with the relevant events of the world. This is a luxury for many kids in the rural areas of India. Hence, we as country should strive to bridge these barriers. At the ThinkSharp Foundation, we believe that education for all should not be a luxury, but a necessity.
